Earn Scholarships for Recycling
Recycling at West Virginia Cashin not only helps the environment but it also supports the development of youth.
Since 2007, money generated from recycling materials dropped off at the separators located in front of the Nitro facility provides scholarships for local youth attending 4-H camp and high school students attending West Virginia University.
These programs were created from a partnership with the local West Virginia University Extension Office to provide youth healthier and more satisfying lives.
Initially $75,000 was put into the annuity. Over the past eight years materials collected from the recycling separators have helped increase that amount to $250,000.
Every year West Virginia Cashin pays into the annuity from selling the recycling materials – plastic, cardboard, newspaper and cans – individuals drop off in the recycling bins.
